We are excited to share that an article was recently published on Brené Brown’s website celebrating the 10th anniversary of the RSA Short animation “Brené Brown on Empathy,” which Superdoodle founder Katy Ross directed and animated. This video has amassed over 20 million views on YouTube and remains the RSA’s most-viewed video to date!
The collaboration with Brené Brown, an inspiring researcher, storyteller, and all-round powerhouse, allowed Katy to explore deep concepts such as empathy and sympathy in a way that has resonated across audiences worldwide. The animation continues to be used as a training tool by organisations as diverse as the Police Service and the NHS and beyond, helping people to better understand and apply empathy.
Reflecting on the project a decade later, Katy shares, “Working with Brené Brown’s teachings on empathy, courage, and vulnerability has left a lasting mark on my approach to animation, reminding me that even serious topics can be approached with humour and heart to open up real emotional connection. It’s incredibly special to see how many people around the world this video has helped.
Ten years on, I’m still hugely passionate about creating meaningful animations, and I’m excited to share that the Superdoodle team is currently working on a new series of animations for My Day Maker, a wellness web app launching later this year. The app will feature a gratitude journal and daily inspirations to help reboot your mindset, and the animations are both fun and educational. We’re so proud that these animations have already won multiple awards on the film festival circuit!”
We can’t wait to share more about My Day Maker soon. In the meantime, check out the full article on Brené’s website HERE, and if you haven’t seen the RSA Short “Brené Brown on Empathy” recently, now’s the perfect time to revisit it!
