Cliiq is a new online platform for content creators: photography, design, music, art.
Cliiq got in touch with us to create a 30 second punchy, no-narrative stop motion promo animation that would feel 'hand made’. They didn’t want anything super polished, but rather to have a distinct and catchy style.
Both Cliiq’s CEO Shaun and his business parter have been professional photographers for decades so had a wealth of imagery we could use for the project. Shaun came to us with some of his favourite pictures that he’d like to include in the sting, but wanted to see what Superdoodle director Lucy would come up with - they wanted to let her have creative freedom.
The concept of the clips would be based around those old 80's MTV idents, by using the Cliiq logo in a similar fashion, having it appear and disappear in different ways but always to remain the focus of our attention. The narrative would simply be about the imagery, animation and ideas within this context.
Lucy’s main concept idea was to create fun characters and locations, which hide and reveal the Cliiq logo in many colourful forms until the very end when we see the logo in its truest form (black and white). She wanted to have a range of locations, from cityscapes to abstract outdoors scenes like this one filled with cacti (and a cheeky pineapple).
Lucy worked tirelessly with a handy toothpick and paperclip, moving each paper asset bit by bit, and the results speak for themselves. She’s made a fun, eye-catching piece of work, and the client was thrilled, saying “Katy and the Superdoodlers are great! From start to finish Katy communicated, managed and delivered without missing a beat. A huge thanks goes to Lucy the animator, for such an outstanding job. A flexible and friendly and extremely talented team. Our animation is simply awesome!!! Thank you very much.”
